LACs and some Big Universities

White girl from a pretty prestigious all girls catholic prep school in NY (my grades may look low, but it's really hard to get A's in my school). I did terrible freshman year due to apathy, but now I'm doing really well. I'm great at essays and interviews, and I know I'll be getting fabulous rec's from my guidance counsler, my american teacher, chem teacher & art history teacher (my intended major).

Freshman year: around a B+ average

Spanish 2 A-
English A-
Religion B- (?)
Health A-

Global 1 B- (ouch!)

Sophmore year: B+/A- average 2 honors (I started off with C's and ended with A+s, and my guidance counsler will emphasize that)
Art B+
Spanish 3H A-

I worked 40+ hours a week over the summer at a cell phone distributor, and I will be working again this summer. I work during the year at Weight Watchers (I also lost 60 lbs during sophmore year). I will continue working there as well. This summer I'm attending a Journalism Workshop at Stanford University, as well as traveling to Italy this April & June (I don't know if I can include that nywhere).
Also, I was invited to NHS and will most likley get in.

SAT Predicted: 2000 (will try my hardest to improve - April 1st)
Chem SATII: 630 (Taking Lit & MathI this year).

Overall, I will try to emphasize my determination despite my dismal start. Also, how much my maturity level has increased.

SCHOOLS (I've visted most, and will visit the rest by the end of this academic school year):
Wellesley EARLY DECISION
NYU
Barnard
University of Delaware (Dad is a resident)
Bryn Mawr
Fordham (legacy & saftey)
Boston U

Please be honest, especially about Wellesley.

If you can get that SAT score up by a hundred points or so you will be in at all colleges.

bump????????

are students at your school only allowed to take AP's their senior year? because if you could've taken them as soph or jr, and didn't, that won't look good.

I don't think a 2100 makes you a shoe in at NYU. especially for a competitive major like art history.
and Barnard? A 2100 is only average there.. and average does not = safety. A 2250 makes Barnard and NYU safeties.

but what about the AP's? that is important

The only APs you can take before senior year are AP Euro & American, but I didn't get in because I wasn't in honors before.

okay, the SATs are stressing me out like no other.

Given your current and predicted stats:

Wellesley EARLY DECISION - Reach
NYU - Match
Barnard - Big Reach
University of Delaware (Dad is a resident) - Safety
Bryn Mawr - Match
Fordham (legacy & saftey) - Safety
Boston U - Match

bump??????

It's a good list. What is your class rank, if they rank there? A good class rank will offset your not-so-outstanding GPA. A lot will depend on your actual SAT scores. If your SATs are OK, you should have a good shot at Wellesley and Barnard, and be in everyplace else.

poor chances at Wellesley. sorry. try doing something more interesting in the summer as that is something you can easily improve.

my school doesn't do class rank.

as for this summer, i am going to Stanford University for a journalism workshop, going to Italy, working 2 jobs & cross country training. Sounds pretty interesting to me.

Bump? Please!?
