White girl from a pretty prestigious all girls catholic prep school in NY (my grades may look low, but it's really hard to get A's in my school). I did terrible freshman year due to apathy, but now I'm doing really well. I'm great at essays and interviews, and I know I'll be getting fabulous rec's from my guidance counsler, my american teacher, chem teacher & art history teacher (my intended major).

I worked 40+ hours a week over the summer at a cell phone distributor, and I will be working again this summer. I work during the year at Weight Watchers (I also lost 60 lbs during sophmore year). I will continue working there as well. This summer I'm attending a Journalism Workshop at Stanford University, as well as traveling to Italy this April & June (I don't know if I can include that anywhere, but I plan on writing my college essay on my reaction to The Birth of Venus).

SAT Predicted: 2000 (will try my hardest to improve - April 1st)
Chem SATII: 630 (Taking Lit & MathI this year).

Overall, I will try to emphasize my determination despite my dismal start. Also, how much my maturity level has increased.

SCHOOLS (I've visted most, and will visit the rest by the end of this academic school year):
Wellesley EARLY DECISION
UPenn (SUPER SUPER REACH)
NYU
Vassar
Barnard
University of Delaware (Dad is a resident)
Bryn Mawr
Fordham (legacy)
Boston U

Please be honest, especially about Wellesley.

Wow, losing 60 pounds is extremely impressive!

I don't know enough about those schools to accurately gage your chances, though, sorry.

bumpppppppp?

please???? bump?

you got to have your sat scores up<< very important

some more EC focus? hold any leadership position(s)?

the most prestigious course schedule at your current school? Have you fully utilized the resources that are available to you?

and your ECs are average, but still cannot reach the top of the cream.

Don't worry too much about grades: you are in a rising trend, and a junior year with only one B+ certainly fits within the ivy academic zone.
Class rank?

Hook? ANYTHING BIG? IMPRESSIVE?

As for leadership, I'll be editor of the newspaper next year and I'm a Peer Minister. I don't understand how my EC's are average. I basically spend my life at school and have a very wide range of activities.
I take the hardest classes (Well this year) except english and AP USH (only history is offered for AP before senior year). Next year I am taking all of the hardest classes I can. But, my school is very prestigious and people with low B+ averages get into schools like NYU.
No class rank at my school.
I guess my hook would be my turnaround. In sophmore year, I brought my grades up from Cs to A+, became very active at school and lost 60 lbs.

bumpppppppp
