I’m interested in directing but my parents fear the dreaded ‘art school,’ and I personally would rather go to a liberal arts college. My top choice right now is Barnard, whose theater major has different concentrations, e.g., directing, acting, dramaturgy, etc. What other LACs have options within the major like this? Many colleges I’ve looked at just have one strict theater major, where aspiring actors, playwrights, etc. have to take the same classes.
(Other LACs with tracks I’m looking into are Brandeis, Brown, and Oberlin.)
Muhlenberg has some core classes all theater majors take, but then also concentrations within the major. I think there is a directing concentration.
Fordham might be a good choice.
