There is a housing survey on the facebook page so we can find roommates! You can also use www.uroomsurf.com to find a roommate!

I am a senior at Lafayette and I definitely agree with that quote from Lafalum84. I never feel bored on this campus. There are always fun things to do. We have a movie theatre, comedians on campus, a new dance club right down the hill for 18 + called “The Spot” (get it…we’re the Leopards!), and many more activities throughout the week. It was also just announced that the Spring Concert will be headlined by Kid Cudi! Lafayette has 250 clubs and organizations, so you will actually have trouble turning things down to do, not being too bored and having nothing to do.

While there are definitely 4 seasons at Lafayette, the campus looks beautiful when it snows. And soon enough, it will be spring! And we are in great proximity to NYC and Philly (about 75 miles from each). I have taken several field trips into NYC for classes, such as seeing Broadway shows and going to museums…it’s a great added bonus of being at the school!

I am in a sorority, which has been an amazing experience. I have 2 part-time jobs on campus (that are actually fun!), and I stay busy with other activities when I can. If you have any other questions, let me know. I’m here on campus now…so I can help you with any concerns you might have!

KID CUDI!!!

He’s one of my favorite musicians right now!!! I wish I was already attending Lafayette :(

leopard2010 - do you mind telling more about your two jobs on campus? Part of my finanical aid package includes those and I’m not sure what kind of jobs I can choose from.

@laf2014:

I’m just gonna step in and answer your last post about part time jobs on campus.

Starting this past year, the college emailed a list of available jobs on campus to all students who have work-study as part of their aid package. This list is by no means exhaustive but simply informs you of the most common jobs available / specific jobs available in departments. Work study has no restriction on what sort of campus job you can do. Personally I work at the gym and the annual fund office. I know other people who work in the library, the admissions office, research assistants, student life managers and basically any department on campus.
Getting a job on campus is not difficult. I know most freshmen freak out coz they think they won’t be able to find one, but everyone who looks for jobs gets one, maybe not immediately but they will get one eventually. Sometimes there are ones that are not advertised but you find out about through word of mouth.

Hi Laf2014,

Just as ryanshroff said, you will get info about all the on-campus jobs when you get to Lafayette!

I am a student manager at the Annual Fund office. I started as a caller during my freshman year (just like ryanshroff)…and then I worked my way up to a student manager as a sophomore. Each year I have gotten an hourly wage increase, which is great. For this job, we call alumni and ask for donations to the college. It teaches you GREAT phone skills. I actually got my summer internship last summer because my boss was so impressed with my phone skills that I beat out a bunch of other people for the job!

My other position is in the Admissions Office. I answer phones a few hours a week, so it helps to bring in more money on my paycheck, as well. I have also been doing this since freshman year, and it has been SO helpful to receive money each month. I love working on campus. It also teaches you great time management skills and we learn so much from what you are doing!

Any more questions, let me know!

Accepteddddd!!!
