Lafayette College Vs Northeastern

Hey ! I have made it to both Lafayette and NE .......Can't decide between the Two ...Planning to major in Mechanical engineering >>>>>>>please suggest

I thought I heard engineering was better at Lafayette, but I'm pretty sure Lafayette is the better college overall.

Northeastern isn't noted for its financial aid, if that will be an issue with you. Also, housing is not guaranteed for all 4 years. If housing & financial aid are important factors then Lafayette may be more attractive to you and your parents. Those 2 factors have always been considered in our household, putting 4 children through college. My H & I never wanted to be put in the position of paying rent for an apartment & setting our children up the pots, pans, etc. Living on campus for all 4 years & staying connected with friends & attending social events, classes etc. is such a rewarding experience.

Thanks guys that is pretty useful ..........................

The housing not being guaranteed for four years isn't that big a deal for us, although when we were looking at schools in Boston for our first college daughter, it seemed a bit scary. As far as staying connected with friends, also not an issue because so many students live off campus in various parts of the city.
The move into an apartment has it's disadvantages , but if you're lucky, they will remain in the same location for more than one year, so no move in and out issues in a 8 - 9 month time period.

My daughter, who is a junior will remain in her apt thru the summer..she will spend the fall semester in LA, but her roommates are staying thru senior yr. Also, no start up costs for renting another apt , for instance 1st month rent, last month, security and realtor fee..equal to 4 month's rent.
I think it is the norm , at least at colleges in Boston to live off campus at some point during the 4 yrs.
