Yes and yes, he is both those things! LOL He was a three sport athlete all four years in high school and one of the top students in his class. He is also sort of a dork. He’s a very down to Earth and open person.

He lives in the wellness dorm and while I sort of encouraged that when he was listing preferences, he thanked me for it within the first month. He claims it’s the coolest dorm and he really enjoys the people. He says Ruef is the roughest to live in.

I’ll shoot him a text to ask him specifically what he loves, but from talking to him I know that he really enjoys his FYS. He has had a lot of opportunity to travel locally with friends and on school trips to see different parts of Pennsylvania as well as NYC. So, while not Lafayette specific, he is enjoying the freedom of college life. There is always something to do and so many interesting community service projects.

The one thing he complains about is the food. He said that the first few weeks it was really good but over time the quality has degraded. But I think complaining about the food is kind of part of the college experience. LOL

He and I were both worried because his FYS got changed like, 3 times and the one he ended up with hadn’t even been on his radar. Turned out to be a blessing as he loves it and it has led to him picking up on Econ minor.

Wow, I love hearing all this good stuff. Thanks so much for sharing the info. I am passing it along to my son. @btlsmum - I believe your son and mine would get along well. My son is an athlete - track, soccer and cross country, and also is at the top of his class. @gemblu I may have missed where you told about your daughter. What are her interests?

Mine did cross country, basketball and track.

I asked him what he would say he liked to someone that was considering attending. He said that he hasn’t had a professor yet that he didn’t like. In fairness, it’s his first term. LOL He has had a lot of freedom in choosing classes. There is always something to do and he loves the people. He enjoys the open gym. Oh, and the free Wifi and printing. So there is one 17 year old’s opinion. Not a ton of Lafayette-specific stuff but it has been a good fit for him.

@btlsmum–I am trying to absorb “Ruef is the roughest to live in” ha ha. When I attended in the '80s Ruef was an all girls dorm and probably the quietest on campus. South College was the “rough” one.

Ruef has gotten quite a reputation in the past few years. It’s no longer an all girls dorm. I think it’s by floor now, but I can’t remember for sure. However, it does get crazy loud and at times, it’s crazier than South. Similar case with McKeen. I never understood why anyone would like that, but a good number of people did love that environment.

@GiangNam fortunately I have a couple of friends from Vietnam with ‘Giang’ inserted somewhere in their names. But it’s mostly a lucky guess since I don’t know if someone in ,say, China would have something like that. Wow… so you stay in Vietnam and travelled to Lafayette? That’s one hell of an expense… but it’s Ok they’re only 14,000km apart

@deborahb My daughter is involved in a lot at Lafayette. Sometimes I wonder if she sleeps! Her interests range from athletics (played Varsity Field Hockey and Lacrosse in high school) to community volunteer organizations and a host of academic groups. She has already received two leadership positions, one as an Ambassador (tour guide) and heading up part of orientation for the Class of 2019. She’s an extorvert, so has already created a great network of friends on campus. We are not from the region.

A few years ago I think they mailed them out close to the 15th and my D head a couple of days later. Her acceptance did arrive on a Saturday for her which was nice because she was home when the mail came. Just hang in there. The acceptance letter she got was lovely and personalized and made it (kind of) worth the wait. Good luck to everyone.

Ha! waiting for a decision isn’t an easy task . Lafayette Admissions isn’t making it any less mysterious. I will only wait ,but 9 days is a really long time span Anyone have an idea on when and how international applicants will get their letter?

Does anyone know if being able to pay full tuition is helpful during the early decision process?

also @SmartBeast, you will likely hear on the 15th. Lafayette waits 2 days after they send out their physical letters to alert international students online. My college guidance officer told me Lafayette would send out decisions Friday, December 12th. Because I live an hour and a half from Easton, I am hoping to hear back on Saturday; however, most people (including myself) will probably hear back Monday, December 15th.

@SmartBeast hahah I forgot to mention i’m studying in the US too, so that made the trip way easier as summer trip, I also spent a few days at the rivalry Lehigh and a few smalls LACs in PA too
