Language Courses in High School

Hi. I want to probably go to Johns Hopkins for college and major in biology on a pre-med track, and perhaps minor in computer science.

I plan on taking Latin in my entire years of high school. I don’t really like language that much, and I suck at it. My schedule is very tight because I plan on taking lots of AP courses.

Is it better to take 4 years of Latin, or take 3 years of Latin and more courses that I am passionate about?

also… I’m not very athletic… should I be doing a sport or does Hopkins not really care?

I have 4 kids who were admitted to Hopkins and 3 of them took 3 years of a language (completed through french/spanish 4), so I personally don’t think that 4 years is necessary, especially if you start high school in level 2.

I wouldn’t worry about athletics, but I think that being involved is important, whether it’s sports, music, clubs, academic teams, etc., both at school and in your community.

Good luck!
