What prevents one from getting somebody who is proficient in a language and taking the test for them? I heard they don't ask any questions. Obviously there's a catch. What is it?

uh..theres no way they are going to know that someone is taking it for you...the catch? getting a low grade in the class?

^ wow seriously? so how rampant is this sit-in stuff?

well its an online test that u take on your own...under no supervision whatsoever..but the test is easy if u know the language tho..

I'm talking about getting a native speaker to take it for you and scoring so highly that you place out of taking the language.

umm..u dont get placed out of the language by taking this test...only the ap language tests can do that...the language tests PLACES you into a higher language class..

My native Spanish speaking friend took the test and placed out of it. He went to the linguistics department and petitioned to get it waived. He was instructed to do this after finishing the placement test.

hmm..i never heard of that...i placed out of the spanish linguistics..but they placed me into spanish literature..but iono if ur talkin about that...

What exactly is placing out? Is that a good thing or a bad thing? This is probably a really dumb Q, by yah, just curious since I'm a winter admit.

placing out = demonstrating sufficient proficiency for said language so you don't have to waste your time taking the class = more time to sleep/take other classes/hang out with friends/etc.

generally recommended for everyone, unless you really want to review your command of the language and use it for something else.

trying to cheat yourself to get out of classes? what a great mindset.
good luck in your future job(s).

^^ seriously though..

I took it and got placed into LTSP50. I talked the the Literature Dept. and they said you can't waive your requirements entirely--the minimum is 1 quarter to fulfill your "sequence".

This is also after getting a 6 on IB HL Spanish

ok if you want easy grades, just flunk the test or something so you get placed hella low geez

and there is a class for native speakers.
