Languages and SFS admissions

I applied to SFS for the fall of 2013. I'm not the most competitive applicant, but I have taken both Spanish and French at an AP level. (I started learning Spanish in 8th grade and took AP Spanish my junior year. I taught myself French, entering French II my junior year. This year I skipped both French III and IV and am in AP French.)

For anyone familiar with SFS admissions, how much of a hook/ help will this be? Thanks

Great, whatever. I’ve taken Japanese for four years, and I got in. It won’t be a “hook.” On the FB group everyone really is bragging about speaking 3 languages, so.

@collegegerm,

Impressive that you taught yourself French to the point of starting II as a junior and then skipping straight to AP as a senior! How did you do it?

The “multiple language” aspect of your resume will probably not be as important to the adcom as the fact that you took the initiative to learn French (very successfully, apparently) on your own. It shows drive and energy, which are always good things. Best of luck!

what did you get as a score for both language?
