Lanyard or No Lanyard?

As far as I’m concerned, if you have a car on campus, your set of keys will probably be the most important thing that you hold onto. I could have said if you have keys altogether and if you have other keys, then yeah, it’s fine to put them on a lanyard. What else do you put on a lanyard other than keys and useless accessories? If you have cards or money, put them in a wallet.

When I was in high school, I put my lanyard in my pocket, by the way.

Just put the lanyard in your pocket. I put my ID card on my lanyard as a freshman and it was really annoying… and I had to buy a new ID because the hole broke and it came off the lanyard and I put another hole in it… and it just eventually peeled apart…

… If you get one of the plastic card holders that are made to attach to laynards and/or keychains, you don’t have to put a hole in it. My university provides them and they are available in the bookstores.

I like the “put your things on a lanyard and leave it in your bag so you can find them easier” thing. Less of a hassle than digging through a bag (my bags, anyway) to find a wallet and then open it to get to the keys/ID.
Also the lanyard-sticking-out-of-the-pocket for guys. This one happened a lot in high school even though we were supposed to wear them.

Speaking of which, it just became a rule in my junior year that everyone had to wear their ID on a lanyard (something about terrorists…I dunno), so after two years of it I have mixed feelings. I’m used to it, but I’m also kind of over it.
But those card pouches for them are really useful for holding small, flat things. I could see keeping a tiny copy of my schedule in there for the first part of a new semester. That’s what we did with our HS bell schedules.
(I ended up getting the plain back of that mini schedule signed by Jack Johnson and left that side facing out instead. =P)

Attach the lanyard to a loop in your purse (girls)…you don’t have to worry about ever losing it, since you won’t have to detach it, and you won’t look like a tool. Or the belt for guys.

Please don’t. Especially don’t wear them backwards- you’ll look like a tool. Just carry a wallet.

“I keep my keys on a lanyard so I can hang it up in my room, but I tie it around a belt loop and keep them in my pocket for easy access.”

Haha atomic that sounds so nerdy, like something my dad would do.

I kept a lanyard in my pocket for my room/mailbox keys. If you need to keep keys, at least keep the lanyard in your pocket instead of around oyur neck

That is something your father would do because he likely knows from experience that accidents happen. Better safe than sorry, and life is not some fashion contest like you monkeys make it out be.

I find it very amusing that people here think that only guys wear it sticking out of their pocket. News flash: girls do it too. Hell, its even popular at my school.

I don’t know how in gods name girls fit anything into their pockets. I am a girl and I had pretty much resigned myself to the fact that my pockets are designed mainly for decoration.

i’ve never had that problem, then again i don’t wear those tight as hell pants either. When i do wear pants though, my keys go into my pocket and my card and cell go into hoodie pouch.

I find it’s more convenient for my keys. I leave my ID in my wallet though.

I wear pretty tight pants, and all that goes in there is my phone. Sometimes I use my back pockets to carry some money I’m going to use immediately, but anything else goes in my wallet.

I’d vote no on the lanyard. Unless you enjoy looking like a dork/someone who got lost at summer camp, lol.

If you want one, get one. Almost everyone at my school uses them, freshman or otherwise. It’s how you use it/wear it that makes a difference ie. freshmen wear them around their necks in the front, athletes wear them around their necks backwards, girls tend to drop them into their bags or attach Vera coin purses/ID holders onto them and just carry them etc.

Yeah, it’s not really common to wear lanyards in college, but if it helps you keep from losing your card, then wear it. The only people I’ve seen wear them are the folks during orientation. My old roomie is now an RA and she wears [beaded lanyards](http://www.beadedlanyards.info) sometimes. They’re kinda cute.

All the athletes wear lanyards.

Oh my God, I had no idea it was a “freshman thing”… burns lanyard

I rarely see anyone wearing a lanyard.

I have one for my key, but I put it in my pocket (and I never let it hang out like some people do).

^ Hey Bethany, what is up yo?

Most of the freshmen I know have lanyards with the ID card holder thing, although apparently they also damage the card somehow (I think there are two strips used for swiping at various times), so they stopped selling them in the bookstore (or so I heard)

Really though, I’ve had no problems just carrying my card in my wallet and my keys in my pocket

Almost everyone at my school uses a lanyard. The boys have an ID holder, and the girls attach them to vera bradley.
