I won't be carrying my laptop to classes, so should I buy a lock for it to use when I leave it in the room?

Do people lock their laptops at Rutgers? I've seen a lot of students doing it at other colleges.

My roommate last semester had a laptop lock.

Usually I just hid it in a place (like under the bed in my luggage) each time I left the room. But I do know one or two people who used locks – just to be on the safe side.

If you feel it would be best, there is nothing wrong with purchasing one.

Thank you, that helps :]

i have one but i didn’t use it. i lived in a smallish dorm (jameson on douglass) where everyone knew each other, and many people didn’t use laptop locks. people would just leave their doors open or unlocked all day, but i don’t think this is the case in other dorms.

I have one anyone, I think it’s a safe bet; especially if you have a good laptop.

Do a lot of students use the Rutgers email…eden.rutgers.edu?

^ Yes. Your Rutgers email comes in handy for professor-to-student communication and other communication relating to the university. It is a good idea to check it once a day and keep your inbox clean, since it can prevent you from receiving important emails.
