So someone threw a Jake Plummer pass that hit the LCD screen and cracked it -Mac G4 17. Has anyone sent their laptop out for LCD repairs? Any suggestions? Do places also replace the aluminium casing if it has dents? And I know Mac people read this...so here goes...rant and rave: if you want to be the "people's" computer, you can't have head shakes and answers to the effect of "it's gonna cost you at least $800..." I mean they were talking closer to $1200 in the store. Now I don't know where to go yet, but if online place advertisements seem to indicate $500 price range, then how about a little loyalty by Apple! and a price that's no more than 20% over lowest prices.

Did you buy the Applecare Protection Plan?

It's a pretty sweet deal for me, especially since I've had to get the LCD + connecting cable repaired as well as the motherboard replaced twice a couple of months ago.

Unfortunately, if you didn't buy their protection/insurance plan, there's not a whole lot they can do for you. It would kind of hurt the company's profit margin if they just replaced/fixed your computer free of charge (or at a discount rate) whenever it gets broken!

Good luck with it, though!
