the plastic part of my CD/DVD drive broke (not the metal/wired part that actually plays the CD but the plastic part that holds it up and attaches it to my laptop), and the outside/exterior cover of my monitor is cracked in a little corner, but I might have to replace the whole cover since it's a one piece thing. Does anyone know much it'll cost? It's a Dell, btw.

you can call dell customer service and ask them.

dell charges an exorbitant amount for everything.

call them and ask them how much repair is. if its alot of money you might as well buy a new labtop.

You probably won't be able to get a hold of Dell, let alone get them to fix anything within a reasonable amount of time. Should have gotten an Apple. Steve & Co will definitely take care of you.

btw it usually costs like $700 to get the display replaced if it's not under warranty. They'll probably find some reason to void your warranty and then screw you over.

haha i'm not talking about the display, futurenyustudent? anyway, i've gotten my laptop fixed numerous times by dell, but not something like this.

anyway, yes i would like an apple, i've been begging for one since forever but my dad WON'T let me have one under any conditions, and i'm blamed for all of my laptop's malfunctions (probably is partially my fault, but i think it's stupid that the exterior shell would crack in my padded laptop case).

Well if its just the notebook's plastic casing, I'm assuming the computer still functions fine?

Just duck tape it, if you aren't on warranty than its not worth it. If you are they will fix it, I had my Dell laptop casing replaced twice, no surcharges.

Other thing is depending on your model, you could look on Ebay and often people have parts auctions, so you could probabl pick up a case for 20$ or something.

GL

Tell him to give you 5 reasons why you shouldn't have an apple. Then PM me. I'll give you rebuttals for every single common reason people don't get macs. This coming from a first time mac user.

Or you can always make money and then buy it yourself...like your dad's going to do anything about it...or can.
