<p>Yes. But the computer required for engineering is normally different every year as technology changes. I am a current engineering major and had to buy a $2000 laptop. The computer required for 2010-2011 was a Fujitsu or Toshiba convertible screen tablet. I have never had to use the tablet in class for any reason, but I also took the freshman engineering class somewhere else. It may be incorporated into the 1st semester engineering course. The requirements for the incoming 2011 class won’t be posted until like May or something, so if you find the comp. requirements on the VT website, those are for the current freshman engineering students.</p>
