I'm sure many people on this list have taken either the ACT or SAT multiple times. It would be interesting to hear from those that have taken these exams on more than one occasion the difference in points between their maximum and minimum combined or average scores. I have heard that improving one's ACT score beyond six points is nearly impossible. Is this true?

Greg...it is difficult but not impossible.

In order to increase your score from a 25 composite to a 30 composite, you have to increase total points earned by 20, of course, you have to consider your first score. Most "big success" stories started out with a low composite, but there is always the exception.

My d did poorly on the grammar but was able to learn the section (very quickly) and increase her English score substantially (by more than five points) on a practice test (using real ACT test). Her tutor said the grammar is the easiest section to improve. My d believes the ACT is more about time management than knowledge. IMO it is all about time.

My d is waiting to view her results from the September ACT test. I will let you know how she does. If she increases her score by two points she will receive $40,000 in scholarships over four years and in state fees. Each point is worth a fortune.

I am glad I can give a little in return to a new CCer. Good luck Greg and welcome to CC.
