I was called March 17th for a second interview.
I was shocked. This seems so late in the game.
Anyone else interviewing this late?
What does it mean?

I don't know of anyone else who's been contacted that late, but still...what were the specifics of the interview?

I interviewed on campus last fall/September.
It was my first interview and I was really nervous.
Thursday I was contacted by an alum who is a professor at the large state university an hour from here. I called him back and drove down to meet him on campus the next day. It was a standard alum interview...similiar to the one I had with Princeton and Brown. It lasted for an hour + we had a great talk. I didn't ask him "Why so late?" It was the elephant in the room, but I thought I might be offending him because it might be HIS fault and I didn't want to be ungrateful. I was floored to be called so late and I was wondering if anyone else was having the same experience.

I had a second interview on the 12th of march. it means you are borderline applicant and that they want to put a face on your apps or try to see if you will fit in i guess.

They had enough trouble tracking me down for my alum interview after my on campus interview because I moved into my dad's house. If now they are trying to get a second interview they wouldn't be able to track me down.

Stanmaster22: If we were borderline, how safe do you think it is to assume--ahem, I mean--hypostulate that, if the interview went (very) well, our chances of admission are strong?

Im not really sure. My interviewer was the senior admissions officer and he said this really helps him see our interest in the school and also to help him get a picture in his head when he is making final decisions. I would think that a strong interview will help you alot at this point in the game but you have to remember that all the other kids could have had great interviews as well. In my case on long island, 23 kids were invited and we were told that 1/3 will get in so we knew already that everyone was strong there and that maybe a strong interview might distinguish you but there is no way you can know how well you did unless you see how your competition did also.
