Given that I'm a junior graduating a year early, Wellesley switched my application from EE to RD (they don't let juniors apply under early plans). I spoke to a woman from Admissions who told me it's because they'd like as long as possible to evaluate me, see my grades, etc. I imagine the most important reason was to see that I kept up good grades... unfortunately, second quarter, I didn't really! :( Got my lowest average ever (87) with a couple of Bs and even a C thrown in there in math. Should I count myself out? Is it a really bad thing?

You don't have to send in your 2nd quarter report. I hope you good luck!

Hi Bustles!
I'd wondered what you'd been up to lately. I can't really answer your question, but I thought I'd say hi since you've been poking around here since 2007. Anyway, I'm not sure how the mid-year report works, but for all I know it could combine the first with the second quarters, which might mask your average a bit.
Good luck!

Hahah :) that cheered me up. It's so nice that you were attentive enough to notice that I've been sorta absent. My report cart will show my first-quarter grades which are generally excellent alongside my second-quarter grades which are generally dismal. I asked my guidance counselor if I should send along one of those "this is a list of the reasons why my grades suck" letters (and I really do have good reasons!) but he advised me against it and now I'm just doing all kindsa freaking out...

Wellesley is still my first, second, or third choice, depending on what time of day you ask me... :/ I'm goin' nuts

Just got waitlisted at Smith so I now have no expectation whatsoever that I'll be accepted at Wellesley or Barnard. I hate that all this anticipation and frustration and obsessing is going to come to nothing.

That sucks. Hey, but crazy things happen, right? Maybe it's not over yet?

I wouldn't count it as being over, so don't worry! (Easier said than done). Just keep your fingers crossed and keep yourself preoccupied. Plus you always have next year?

Good luck! Things have a tendency to work themselves out.
