Okay. So I thought Columbia's deadline was Jan. 1 and previously decided not to apply since it wasn't on the commonapp. However now that I now the deadline is on jan. 4 I feel like I can submit the app. The problem is my teachers don't know I'm applying and by the time I tell them I now their recs will be late. ( I cant expect them to finish the rec in one day right?) Anyways so I'm going to have late recs but its actually MY fault for deciding last minute. Will columbia still look at my app? Normally its the teacher or internet's fault, but since I didn't tell them earlier would I not have an excuse for late recs?? I seriously need any help!!!!

they might still accept the recommendations. but unless you feel you really really really want to go, you shouldn’t bother your teachers/counselor with a late request.

How would they know why the recommendations were late? Unless your teacher/counselor got ticked and wrote that in, but I highly doubt anyone would do that. But dillbilly does have a point. The recommendations might not come out so hot upon such a late request.

They already have my recommendation written since I applied to a ton of common app schools. I know that they’ll use the same rec, but I hope they don’t add anything about a last minute request!
