For the people who have already applied and gotten in, or are applying:

So, I toured many schools, and narrowed down all of my choices to the ones I thought fit me the best. Have any of you ever gone through the process, and AFTER traveling and doing your interviews, realized that although you like some of the schools, there is one or two that really seems to fit the bill, but you lost your chance?

Kenzz! I just e-mailed you back like 10 minutes ago... it's a short story, pretty much, so set aside like 10 days when you have the chance to tackle it :D.

I mean, I've been hearing a lot about 2 specific schools, and I lost my chance at interviewing there... no way can I afford to go back East all over again! So, how have people remedied that situation? Has anybody bounced back and found a way? Lol.

Ohhhh! I see... okay. (And I look forward to reading said short story!)

Well, there are phone interviews. Of course, they aren't as good as the real thing in terms of seeing the campus, meeting the people and having them meet you. But, if you're really passionate than I'd interview over the phone.

Can I ask which schools they are? Out of curiosity? =]=]

I'm a tad weary of posting school names online here right now. I've heard that many officials get onto these sites, and I don't want to say anything unfavorable about any schools, and have it linked back to me.

But you know I dish in e-mails, so you'll know :D. Lol.

DUDE! I'm an idiot! Of COURSE alumni interview.

Geez... I'm out to lunch today.

And alumni interview is where, well, an alumni interviews you! They have them across the country, and world. My Exonian friend did that, because he just didn't have the time to make the trip. He actually applied late as well, and still got in! Impressive.

I'm sure there'd be some in your town, it's not like you're in North Dakota or anything. =]

Oooh, very interesting possibility. Actually, I'm really pleased you mentioned that. I'm going to have to go bother my parents about yet ANOTHER school I want to go to.

When did attending and scouting out schools replace other pastime activities, lol?:]

Yup mmoynan pretty much explained it. Look for the alumni interviewers page on the site of the schools your applying to, give them a call..then set up your interview.

I would be more worried about the late recommendations.

I'm not concerned about them, lol. The schools I'm considering are mostly in the 10 leagure organization, so I'd just ask them to photocopy them once more. My teachers haven't finished my recs quite yet, though I gave them out early November. Oh well:].

What schools are you thinking about, mpicz?

Yes, I understand. Luckily, the people I've chosen to fill out my non common and optional recs are very understanding, and close friends of mine. They'd be more then willing to help me out, I'm sure.

Is that your order of preference? Do I remember reading a few months back that you are also applying as a junior?

Oh, good luck with SPS as a junior, if you apply as one. My interview there went very well, but they said I'd have a much higher chance being accepted as a sophomore... I'm sure you already know that, though :].

I'm applying to Exeter as well! Maybe I'll see you there, lol.

Yup exactly what my SPS interviewer told me...SPS is one I know I'm applying to as a sophomore. Ya I like my chances for exeter more than andover...I realized how crappy my essays were for them after I sent it in lol.

But w.e, any of the schools would be great...I just don't like deerfield much.

I was convinced...I'm not sure if my parents are though. I mean I'm not in a rush to get anywhere plus I'm a little young for my grade supposedly (never really thought about it before) so it won't hurt.

Lol ya...im late 93, so its not a big deal to me. Im just a little worried about maturity level and stuff...cuz I look at freshman and laugh most times. Hopefully boarding school kids are a little more grown up...not that I dont like to joke around.

A little off topic but why would SPS tell multiple people they would have a better chance applying as a sophomore? Do they expect drop outs? Do you need to improve your transcript for a year first? Do they not have enough freshman housing?
