I’m trying to finish up my common application schools and am slightly freaking out… I just keep coming up with more questions and ‘what ifs.’ etc, etc. So if anyone could help with some of these I would greatly appreciate it.

For ‘why __?’ essays (specifically my why hamilton?) what is the usual length? Because I wrote it concisely at ~450 characters but after sufing around CC (for far too long), it seems like everyoen else is making ‘why ?’ essays pretty long…

Can I click ‘submit’ on the actual common application before the specific supplements? I’m pretty sure the answer is yes but I’m terrified I’ll do it and I’ll be screwed. And what about for all-in-one institutions? When I send the common application does the supplement automatically send?

For the schools that ask for a writing sample done for school and have the upload form located right on the supplement – do I have to upload it there or can I send a photo copy? Because the photo copies are already sealed in the envelopes…

How do I pay? When do I pay?

Is it too late to buy some cats and become a cat lady?

Thanks for – first of all reading this ramblage – any help I get! Which might need to be psychiatric at this point…

You can submit the common app part before supplement, or even vice versa if you prefer. For the all-in-one schools you can also submit common app first, and the supp will NOT submit automatically...you need to submit that separately. All-in-one just means that they won't look at your app until both parts are submitted. After you submit you'll see that you have a chance to print the whole thing out for your records. You can also come back to it anytime when you log in again and print it out later.

On the left hand side, near the bottom of the list is the "payment" part. Click on that and you follow the instructions there to pay by credit card.

Oh, and be sure to indicate with the check mark in the box which college you're submitting to. You can do them one at a time or all together, though I suggest doing one at a time just to make sure it goes prooperly.

Also, you will see that "submitted" will be indicated in the fields. Later at some point, that will change to "downloaded" when the college actually does downloads.

Sequoia -- you have no idea how much better that makes me feel! I was terrified that I would click submit and the computer would just start laughing.

Polkadots -- thanks, I'll deffinately try to expand it then. And I'm very upset that I missed the cat lady registration deadline... =(

Grim -- the reason for including it in the envelope was that I encountered about 359 problems trying to upload it. Think it will be a huge problem if they don't recieve it electronically?

That's the Expository prose for Hamilton, right? I believe on the online sup form it offers sending it by mail as an alternative to attaching it. That's what I'm doing, it's 10 pages and would be way too much to scan ---> PDF. I would imagine most people are doing the same considering it's supposed to be graded, and how many of us have scanners and are tech savvy all in one breath?
