^^^^Oh in that case… UNC! UNC! UNC!

pierre, fn18 stated: “DukeAlumnus2003…” fn18 did not ask you, nor did I ask you to speak for me. You don’t know what my reasons are. At least fn bothered to ask, while all you did was assume. I don’t know how people act where you come from, but I suggest that you check yourself. You have some serious growing up to do…

I know I wasn’t supposed to answer but inferring from what I know about my Duke friends…I think I got at least 1% of the answer :p

DukeAlumnus…you’d be a terrible Blue Devil if you didn’t go against UNC just because they are UNC…

“I know I wasn’t supposed to answer”
Then why did you do it?! The jails and prisons across America are filled with offenders who are guility of having the same line of thinking as you…

“But inferring from what I know about my Duke friends”
Why didn’t you qualify your statement with this specific premise, followed by “I guess it is because of…”

As I said before, you have some serious growing up to do, and you need to check yourself. If I need you to speak for me, I will let you know…

Growing up to do? You graduated from Duke 6 years ago, have 70 posts on this site, and probably about 10% of them do nothing but bash UNC. You may not like it, but Pierre hit the nail right on the head.

UNC and UVA are as comparable as two schools can be. I’d go with the one that allowed me to graduate debt free.

Cuse, you are (supposedly) a college student, who claims he went to Syracuse and then transferred to UNX. Neither are US Top 25 schools nor World Top 100 schools. You are have over 686 posts, which means two things: a) Had you worked harder and spent less time posting, who knows…maybe you would have been able to attend a school that’s ranked and b) Both schools are so easy (which is evident, given the fact that neither are ranked) that you have a lot free time to post.

When you graduate from a school that is ranked in the top 10 in the country and top 15 in the world, then you can talk; until that happens, you are not and will never be on my level. You have nothing but jealousy and bitterness filled in your heart. Seems like you harbor so much jealousy that you will go out of your way to bash Duke on any given opportunity. That’s expected. It’s only natural to hate the best…

fn, if you haven’t visited Mr. Jefferson’s University, then it’s hard to describe. Here are a few highlights:

The Grounds are gorgeous! (I love the Rotunda, the Lawn, and the Academic Village)

The Honor Code was written by Mr. Jefferson and is still in existance

The prevalent influence of Mr. Jefferson

The pride students take in attending Mr. Jefferson’s University

The sense of history and feeling you get by being on The Grounds

The football games! “Guys in Ties, Girls in Pearls” dress code

At the football games, nothing like watching (or joining in) 60,000 fans in orange, standing, locked in arms and singing the Good Ol’ Song after a UVa score

The Gardens

You can play croquet on the lawn

FOXFIELD!!!

Why UVa is better than UNC-Ch?
- UVa has about 13,000 undergrads, while UNC-Ch has over 17,000 undergrads
- UVa is ranked in the US News Top 25, while UNC-Ch is not
- UVa is ranked in the World Top 100, while UNC-Ch is not
- UVa is THE university of virginia, while Duke is THE university of north carolina
- Charlottesville is a better city than Chapel Hell. At least Charlottesville has a shopping mall, Wal-Mart, Target - none of these are in Chapel Hell
- UVa has a beautiful campus, with a Jeffersonian architectural theme, while UNC has campus with no theme and boring state buildings.
- Endowment: UVa - $3.9 billion, UNC-Ch - $2.36 billion
- Campus size: UVa- 1,682 acres, UNC-Ch - 729 acres
- UVa has prettier colors
- UVa has a cooler mascot

What if you get there and earn a scholarship or win an award? You can’t put a price tag on everything. Sometimes, you gotta roll the dice, but I would not turn down UVa…

Typical ignorant comment from an ignorant Dookie. First of all, I have been a member of this site for almost 4 years. I average a post roughly every 2 days, hardly what I would call time consuming. And, classes ended a few weeks ago which leaves me with plenty of free time to debunk the myths that Dookies like you love to post in these forums.

UNC is ranked; last I checked we were #30 in the USNWR and #5 among public universities nationwide, hardly something to scoff at. More importantly, UNC has been ranked #1 by Forbes for two years in a row as the best educational value in the country. Dook was nowhere close to that. Translation-Dookies, like yourself, have been ripped off.

I can understand bitterness coming from a Dookie. After all, you have and always will be second rate to UNC. Your campus is pretty, but is located in a ghetto. Your sports teams suck. Your students are all guidos. Your school is overrated and overpriced. And most of your girls are hideous.

No wonder you keep posting here years after you graduated from Dook-after being ripped off like you were for four years, I would be angry too.

Wow, Dookie, I knew you were biased, but I didn’t know you were delusional. Dook is the University of New Jersey. Down here in North Carolina, we have higher standards, and UNC has and always will be our flagship university. I can’t believe you didn’t learn that in your four years down here. Why do you think Dook is so full of out-of-staters? Probably because no one in North Carolina would ever dream of going to a school that is as garbage as Dook is.

Translation, fn, take everything Dookie2003 says with a large grain of salt. His posts here are not meant to be helpful, but are driven by his own hatred of UNC. After some of the delusions that he has posted on this board recently, I would find it difficult to take anything he says seriously. Of course, I too would have some issues if I could only rely on an arbitrary and useless ranking to advise someone to choose one school over another. Dook2003 doesn’t understand that there is more to life than rankings; if he did, then he obviously would have chosen to attend UNC over Dook roughly 10 years ago when he had to make that decision.

Also, fn, this little back-and-forth should illustrate another reason why you should choose UNC-the best rivarly in college sports. Nothing beats rushing Franklin Street after UNC beats Dook in basketball or wins a national championship. If you choose to come and spend 4 years here, I guarantee that you will be able to partake in these celebrations at least a few times.

No. It was not by Jefferson, and its existence today is not that good of a thing.

This topic has been going on for a long time in the U.Va forum.

I’m not trying to bash you. In fact, you have really excellent points about U.Va, which are many of the reasons I would pick U.Va over UNC.

According to the Wall Street Journal you are going to earn at least 10k more if you go to UVA. After that the difference becomes bigger as the Mid-Career 75th Percentile Salary for UNC is 117k, for UVA - 146k

Anyway here’s the link

WSJ.com

raspberry,

Such information is useful but once again I would take it with a grain of salt. You can easily find yourself making $50k after graduating from UVa or making $200k after graduating from UNC, depending on how hard you work and how things play out during the rest of your life. I would not choose UVa simply off of that data, because there is no guarantee that you will make more graduating from one school than you will graduating from the other.

I’d choose UNC over UVA even without the money difference. With loans being in play at UVA, I think it’s a no-brainer.

DukeAlumnus2003- LOL. Keep posting; I love your posts! :p

“Such information is useful but once again I would take it with a grain of salt”

Much like the US Top 25 and World Top 100 rankings eh?

Yes. If it came between choosing between a school ranked in the top 10 (like Duke) and be miserable for four years or choosing a school ranked 30 (like UNC) and having the time of your life while still benefiting from a world-class education, then most people would choose the latter.

It has been proven time and time again that the USNWR rankings are a useful measuring stick but are overused by people in choosing which college to attend. Heck, even USNWR has admitted that if someone chooses a college solely on their rankings then that person is misguided.

Have you had a look at both premed programs and their acceptance rates to med school? That is assuming you’re looking at premed - one poster suggested that you did.

yes i will do pre med. i have been trying to compare med school acceptance rates to both but i dont know where to find that information. does anyone know?
