Tucson cannot compare with Phoenix, you may make an argument for U of A's campus being somewhat nicer, but Phoenix is better than Tucson in nearly every way.

Phoenix isn't nicer- TEMPE is nicer. There's not a whole lot to do outside of Tempe.

In my opinion, I'd prefer to go to U of A simply because it's a nicer campus and there's more desert, so more outdoor activities.

If you are worried about academics, ASU honors has a better reputation than U of A honors, but you should be fine at either institution- they're not great, but they're not The University of Grenada; however, if you're really into the sciences (including computer science), go to U of A- it's by far more superior.

Oh yea...nothing outside of tempe...except for:

Downtown phoenix - chase field, america west arena
Downtown scottsdale - museum of contemporary art, boutiques, restaurants, bars
scottsdale - shopping, architecture, restaurants

music venues, hockey stadium, museums..

yea...tempe is the only nice thing in that area...

^ True, but on a student budget, Scottsdale isn't all that affordable.....

And downtown Phoenix isn't that great.....

There's plenty of affordable things to do in scottsdale, you just have to find them.

And even if its somewhat fancy there, its still a better option than whats around Tuscon.

from what you say...it sounds like YOU would rather go to UA. and i think you should. they are known as the "better" school, yet definately know how to party! (dunno if your intrested in that, but you dont always have to be in the party scene if you chose not to).

UA has better reputation of academics.
hopefully you chose that!

foothills..in tucson..BILLIONARIES AND MILLIONAIRES.
i would just like to say THAT.
and people may say that tucson is "ghetto" but lets get real--this is the opinions of many overly spoiled rich kids (not all though..)

OK, don't know how relevant this is to the original poster anymore... but to the overall thread:
ASU was ranked as the #4 up and coming school by US News. Secondly, if you are considering job prospects, then ASU has the nicer location: metropolitan Phoenix definitely has more, and mroe diverse opportunities, than does Tucson. It's larger, with more outlying cities and it's got more industry than does Tucson. However, if you don't want to stay in Arizona afterwards, then it's largely moot where to go as far as job opportunities. The education at the two schools is nearly identical, if you're not going into business, engineering or medicine. Even the sciences, although U of A may be more "prestigious," ASU has the newer Biodesign Institute, and because it doesn't have a medical program can devote a larger portion of its research money to research in the sciences.

What it comes down to, though, is essentially this: the classroom educations are going to be the same. It really should be decided based on atmosphere, research opportunity, proximity to family, scholarship money, and feel. In the end, you'll do better at whichever university you like being at the most.
