Late Applications

What's the general rule for the chances of late applicants?
Does anyone know how many late applicants have gotten in, and where?
Is it too late to apply late?

Do long waiting lists spell doom for late applicants? (esp. at Deerfield?)

Everything & Anything is appreciated!!!

Schools with waitlists are not even going to look at a new applicant this late in the game. look for schools with rolling admissions or wait till next year.

In order to be a successful waitlist candidate, you need to be full-pay and applying to schools that don’t have long waiting lists for your sex/grade. Don’t even consider the top 10 schools that are so frequently mentioned on this board.

There are still excellent schools with space available – so if you really want to go this fall and parents are on board with paying, do some research and get application out asap.

shelley14, it is actually very possible for students to apply now and get in, despite others being waitlisted. at my school, tours and interviews are still being given and they would not lead a student on…aka there has to be some chance of late applicants getting in.

No school will turn away a real gem! Many things can happen to an admit between now and August.

If you are not applying for financial aid, there are many schools that would love to hear from you. Take a look at this thread http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/prep-school-admissions/694617-now-mid-april-dust-settling-i-wish-tell-my-story.html

I think that if you apply to schools with acceptance rates of 30% and more, you will have some success. I don’t know how successful you will be applying to the most competitive schools at this point in time, unless you offer them something that their matriculating students lack.

If you are full pay, the sky is the limit!

If you a are full pay then it’s possible but if you need financial aid you should consider looking into rolling admissions or applying next year.
