My high school counselor has yet to submit my mid year report and I have emailed her about multiple times, but now my school is on winter break until Feb 21st. This seems like it would be a common issue for students, especially for those who go to an under resourced school like me (too many students, not enough counselors). It’s just anxiety provoking that this issue seems to be on me when I’ve done everything I could to get that submitted in time. Do late midyear reports affect admission decisions at all or is there a way to contact schools to let them know they’ll be submitted late?
I would be really frustrated too. If I were you, I would reach out to your regional Admissions Director and, if applicable, I would upload your mid-year grades directly to your applicant portal.
You could send an email which says something like:
Dear X,
I wanted to notify you that my mid-year report/transcript is on its way from my school, but our school is currently closed for winter break through Feb. 21st.
I am attaching a copy of my first semester report card due to the time-sensitive nature of application review, but the official mid-year report should be uploaded very soon from my guidance counselor.
Please let me know if there is anything you need from me.
Respectfully,

Also, remember to check the Common App (under FERPA) to see if this has been downloaded. That will be more recent than what the respective college applicant portals may show. You may already know this. Good luck!
As long as it’s on your counselor and not you you should be ok. They’ll view your counsel our as lazy. Might be looked at but it shouldn’t change a decision
