Hello,
I'm kinda panicking because I turned in all the required papers into UCI today, but am unsure if they have yet to receive it. If I go past this May 1st priority deadline, what happens next? On the Irvine site, it says that the processing will be slower and/or the financial benefits might decrease, but thats a bit too vague.
Do I get any grants? How much is my financial situation effected? Would love and appreciate some input.
Thank you

When you say “turned in” do you mean you hand-delivered them to the Admissions Office? Or put them in the mail?

faxed it in, but I think it was after office hours; so what really happens?

Their copy of the fax will tell them what time it was received. Does the UCI website get that specific? Like “Deadline midnight May 1?” or “Deadline 5pm May 1?” If it doesn’t specify, I’d say you met the deadline, since you faxed it before midnight Pacific time.

I highly recommend you call them 9 am Monday morning, saying you just want to confirm that they received the fax you sent on Friday. Don’t get all apologetic or say that you faxed it 9 minutes before midnight or anything like that. Sound business-like and non-panicky.

ETA: Assuming you’ll be in school at 9am, remember to put the number of the FA Office into your cell phone contacts TOMORROW, and call them between classes on Monday. You don’t want to wait till Tuesday to call just because you forgot to take the number to school with you. (I have a high school senior, and I know how you people operate, lol) Good luck to you!

Well, I sent the documents at like 7 p.m. (office hours are 9-6) and got a confirmation by the fax site that it was received. Thanks for the advise, I’m gonna call them asap Monday.
But lets say that it doesn’t work out, how bad are the consequences?

Thanks

Well, let’s not go there yet. Did you check the website about the specific deadline? See if it gives a precise time on May 1.

And have you put the Financial Aid office phone number into your cell phone yet? (My daughter says I nag her…)

LasMa – I like your style. Great advice.
