I’ve been recently asked to write a peer recommendation letter by a friend. I’m honored to do it, only I’ve submitted to the same school that he has. I know this sounds terribly selfish, but would it give adcoms a negative impression of me if I emailed the college the peer recommendation this late (issues of punctuality, accountability, etc.)? Should I include a brief note explaining why it’s late? Or is the grace period given by most colleges enough to put an end to my unnecessary worrying?
I’m confused; you feel that it’s selfish because you’re going to purposely delay the letter? Or you feel selfish because all you’re wondering if whether it’ll affect your own application? It depends on how late it is.
If you agreed to do the letter you should do it on a timely basis. If you are uncomfortable writing one since you applied to the same school, be honest with your friend ans ask him/her to find another peer recommender.
