I haven't asked my friend to do a peer evaluation for me yet, but I'm sure he would. I'm worried though, because it's taken me a while to decide who to give it too, and the rec letter might arrive after January 1. It would definatly be mostmarked before, but I'm expecting to get it back on the 28/29 and then mail it the fastest way possible. I'm a borderline applicant and kind of a long shot. Do you think a late peer rec letter might significantly hurt me? My thinking is that they give you a few days grace period since rec letters are not necessarily completely within your control.

If you really must know for sure, then just call them (although it may be a little late for that).

Most schools don't mind if teacher recommendations or other things outside of your control arrive late. In fact, it takes them weeks after the deadline just to process all the mail they get. I think I remember reading somewhere on the Dartmouth board that the people who open the mail really don't check the postmark date anyway.

So no, a "late" peer recommendation won't hurt you, and there's a strong chance that they won't even know it was late.
