Late Reply to Alumni Interview/Conversation Email?

I’d really appreciate some people advice on this situation. Last week, an alum from Cornell emailed me about a meeting to discuss the university and everything. I don’t think it’s officially an interview because he mentioned it as an informal meeting and I had read on Cornell’s website that they didn’t offer interviews for the college I’m applying to, so kinda confused there.

Anyway the email totally (curses) went to my junk mail, and I didn’t reply until five days later. I apologized in the email and everything, but honestly I think he’s probably upset. I replied two days ago and he hasn’t responded yet. I’m not sure what to do in this case. Should I send a follow up email? If so, how much longer should I wait? Will I be automatically rejected for my rudeness? Does it matter? Any experiences?

It’s only been five days. Don’t worry about it; he will respond soon.

Reasonable people understand that sometimes emails go into the junk file. I’d be very surprised if he had a negative reaction. Give it a week.

@hhjjlala @sherpa thanks for the advice. Still waiting…I’ll give it some more time

Does this email relate in anyway to admission chance? I got the email too.
