I'm a Rice student living in the Atlanta area for the latter half of this summer. I wasn't really planning on taking any summer courses, but I'm starting to change my mind--it would be nice to get some of my distribution requirements out of the way. Anyway, I was just wondering if registration for the Late Short Summer Session for in-state students (I'm a Georgia resident) is still active. If so, do y'all know who I should talk to about enrolling at Tech for that term? The registrar? Admissions? Thanks!

I’m fairly certain that Georgia Tech does not allow you to do what you are wanting to do; GT is not a community college.

To register for the summer sessions at Tech you must either be enrolled/accepted or register as part of ARCHE Cross Registration, which does not include Rice. The last day for cross registration is April 22, but like I said, Rice does not qualify, and since you have not been admitted to GT you cannot just enroll for the summer. I would suggest you look at other colleges in the area that offer courses you want to take and allow outside studetns to enroll for the summer. However, this would likely be a community college and I’m not sure if that really meets your needs/wants.

You can find the forms and instructions to register as a Transient Student here:

You will have to apply for admission as a non-degree seeking student, and your degree granting school (Rice) will need to approve. April 15th is the deadline to apply for admission as a one-semester special non-degree seeking student.
