According to http://www.finaid.gatech.edu/2015-16-verification-process the deadline is Jan 27th,
but I only got an email from them about verification 2 days ago, on the 7th

Doesn’t matter, what the website says. You have been selected by the school for verification. just supply the school with what they need for verification. You will not get a financial aid package or any actual money for your aid without it. If you need money to make Ga Tech work, then do the verification
I filed the FAFSA in October for D and got a notice that the school had made a correction in Jan. As far as I could tell they just updated her loan totals to include this spring.
Schools weren’t necessarily ready to process the FAFSAs on Oct 1. They are working through them. And Jan 27 is not the deadline at GaTech. It is the PRIORITY deadline, but you can file a FAFSA for 2017-18 right up through Spring 2018.
