Laundry:
1. They sent everyone a brochure about some sort of laundry service...does anyone actually do this? Is it worth it?
2. How much would you estimate you spend annually on laundry?

Printers:
1. Do people bring their own?
2. Do they have a printer in every hall/dorm, or are they only in the library?

Laundry:
- Some people use the laundry service – some people think it’s easier to send out their laundry and get it back a few days later… I think it’s worth it if you have lots of dry cleaning to do. I personally don’t feel the need to do it but everyone’s different.

1 load of wash is $1 and 1 load of dry is $1. How much you spend depends on how often you do laundry… once a week, once every two weeks, once a semester…

Printers:
- Yes!
- Yes there are printers in every residence hall in the computer rooms – generally 2 or 3 public computers and 1 public printer per residence hall.

Okay, thank you for answering!

Do you need to pay a fee to use the public computers in the computer rooms/residence halls?

No fees – you can use all the computers anywhere for free.

Printing is slightly different. Right now black and white is free and you have to pay for color printing (academic or otherwise) – i think it’s something around 25 cents per page.

thanks!
also, not really related but do the rooms have safes where you can store valuables? or do you need to bring your own?

Laundry:
- I’ve seen the bags at bells desks. Clearly people use it, but judging by the number of bags, it’s a rather large minority.
- <$50

Printers:

Yes. And then they never use them.

There are printers in all the halls, as well as every computer lab.

Safes.
No. I’ve never heard of any dorm that does. That’s a hotel room thing.

I use my printer all the time – it’s really convenient to just print a few pages when I have to. Granted for longer readings and whatnot, I definitely use the school’s printers since then I don’t have to pay for ink or paper…

Part of the college experience is to do your own laundry, and I thought the service was kind of expensive, so I did my own laundry. I never really had problems, just make sure you always have quarters on hand.

There should be a public printer in every dorm, at least there was one in Stone Davis that I know of. I brought my own printer, I found this to be much more convenient.

Also, there are quarter machines for laundry in the campus center and in the basement of Bates Res Hall. The campus center machine accepts $1, $5, and $10s. The one in Bates only accepts $1s.
