My D is moving into Dickinson on Thurs with Hillel Freshman Fest. Her goal is to bring enough clothes so she doesn't have to do much laundry. lol. Eventually, she will have to make her way to the laundry room. Do the machines need quarters or do they take the UD id?

Apparently you can use the ID card for laundry (and a number of other things and places on campus:[University of Delaware: Flex](University of Delaware: Flex)) as long as you deposit money into the Flex Account which you can do online or at various places on campus: [University of Delaware: Flex](University of Delaware: Flex)

Now I am really confused. I don’t know anything about this flex account. I opened up a checking account at PNC for my daughter and linked it to her student id. Can she use this money instead of putting money on a separate flex account?

abmnj1, according to the info at theUD Flex Account site I posted a link to:

What is the difference between Flex and a PNC checking account?

Flex is a prepaid Flexible spending account that can be used on campus.

A checking account at PNC is a bank account that allows students to use their i-card anywhere that STAR® is accepted.

My D used her flex card for laundry. You can go to UDSIS, financial information, and add money to the flex card. It’s pretty useful, but you don’t need much. I think we put on $25 a couple of times during the year and that worked out well. She used it for laundry, purchasing of supplies like lab goggles or tools for one of her art conservation classes, as well as the occasional snack.

Thanks for the info. I will put money into the flex account.
