Are the laundry machines in the dorms coin/card-operated, or are they free?

They are actually both coin and card operated. However, the machines charge less for card users.

Card is the way to go IMO. The money stays on your card all four years and can be used in other locations across campus or in vending machines. It is just a lot easier than having a boat load of quarters in your dorm room!

Do you just use your ID card or do you have to buy a special laundry/vending card? Also, where do you buy the cards and how do you put money on them? Sorry if these are really stupid questions...

Your student ID pretty much takes care of everything at ND. Whether it be a key, piece of identification, or debit card (Domer Dollars and Flex Points), the ID is invaluable. It is the "card" that gets you the cheap rates on laundry. However, you must add money to your card through the Domer Dollar service. Not everyone will do this but I highly recommend doing it. Domer Dollars can be used for practically anything on campus and in some cases, like the laundry, they can get you a decent discount.

Domer Dollars can be added online or when you get your card, so it is quite easy!

Awesome, thanks guys!

hey, you also get a discount of 25c for washing and drying if you use your student ID card.
