Now this may be a silly question but how does doing laundry work? Like how many times a week on average is laundry done? Also, how are the dress uniforms cleaned?

Freshmen have their laundry done for them, once a week. It is collected from carts within each squad.

Upperclassmen have to use the laundromat and the dry cleaners located beneath the dorms.

Do the services cost both 4 digs nothing? Or is it just done this way because they have less time than upperclassmen?

Laundry and dry cleaning are one of the costs deducted from the 4 digs pay each month. You will pay $50/mo for laundry, $26/mo for dry cleaning, $32/mo for the tailor service, and $6/mo for linen service. That is all part of what brings your $864/mo pay down to $115/mo net pay.

Actually, you guys are going to be getting more than $115 a month next year. Quite a bit more. But they won't give you a big check for books each semester and your magic money works completely different. It doesn't just come out of thin air.. you'll know how much you spend and how much you have to spend... I got briefed on it, and it's completely changing for you all next year.

Okay. So we get more money each month. Do we get to keep more, or do they give us more so we pay the bills on our own?

laundry stinks...

as is now, the standard $115 or w/e a month comes in. however, at the beginning of each semester you get a "boost" to cover the cost of buying books. instead of getting this all at once, you'll get it spread out over a longer period of time.

is that right redhead?

Yeah, that's right. You will basically have to be more responsible with your money because you get more over a spread out period of time, instead of just a little bit each month and then one lump sum when you have a big expense like books. Also, you will be able to keep track of the "magic money" that you're spending on uniforms and in the c-store prior to acceptance day. You will actually have your own account of magic money that you can see and keep track of, but it can only be used for certain things. The less you use, the faster your loan is paid off, and the faster you can start getting paid the full amount you're supposed to be paid monthly as a cadet. I think the way they're doing things for 2012 is better because it teaches more financial responsibility.

redhead89: It's a good thing you know what you are talking about, care to elaborate a bit on "magic money"? I just can't wait for financial responsibility!

"magic money" is that money you've earned in pay ($894 or so a month) that was not paid out to you and used to pay for expenses. there is this account with this money that is used for uniform purchases, although you never acutally see the money or what's going in or out until you recieve it back 3 dig year (2010 just got it back)

oh alright i gotcha then! it seems real....magical lol
