Just curious - We thought that all of a cadet’s laundry was sent out, but we have noticed talk about buying spray starch and ironing boards. Is there a choice being doing your own and sending it out? If so, which do you recommend?

Laundry is done for you as a 4 dig. However, they don't iron and starch your clothes for you. When SnoWhite laundry service takes clothes, they pretty much just boil them...so you will have to Iron BDUs and Blue's shirts when you get them back.

And you have no choice in BCT. During the school year you can do it yourself, but the weekly laundry service is already being taken out of your bill, so its better just to let them do it the first year anyways (saves much hassle as a 4 dig).

So even as during BCT, you have to take the time to starch and iron. Hmmmmm, I expect that is a struggle for some who have never done their own laundry. What about your dress shirts? Same thing?

Ironing is not too difficult, you just have to be patient and careful when you're first learning how to do it. Eventually it becomes a lot easier, and you become faster at doing it.

Yeah it's really not that bad. And I've seen spray on starch or something that goes on after it's washed, so it's not too bad. But yeah, we'll all be learning :) everyone will make mistakes and get someone in their face, just part of the process.

Yes, even dress shirts are starched and ironed (these are very quick to do). It's not hard to iron, you have to iron BDU's on max heat, they don't burn so that's not a worry. Then the blue's shirts are quick anyways.

Yes, I would lose 1-2 hours of sleep at night because I was up shining boots and/or ironing clothes.

You probably won't have time to do ironing during the day, so you'll just have to do it at night (and all the cadre know this, so don't worry).
