Law School in France

Hello all,

I am currently obtaining my Bachelor’s degree in political science in an American university. However, as an EU citizen, I have plans to move back to Europe after school and continue my studies there. I want to study Law in France, however I am aware that the system over there is different from the one here. Does anyone know if it is possible to get an LLM degree in France with a “non-law” bachelor’s degree from the US (since no such thing exists here)?

Thank you in advance,

Chelsea

Don’t understand what you mean.
LLM is a postgraduate degree in law, why could you get a LLM degree after a bachelor’s degree?
LLM is an internationally recognized postgraduate degree and yes, you can obtain an LLM degree in France AFTER you have attended law school.

Sorry, I guess I’m a bit confused.
So what you’re saying is that I can obtain an LLM after I obtain what would be in France an LLB degree?
My problem is, I don’t think my American bachelor’s degree would be equivalent to an LLB degree. So I would have to take a bachelor’s degree in France all over again, wouldn’t I?

It seems to me the easiest way to answer this question is just to email admissions at wherever you want the LLM.

No, you’d start as a Year 1 Law student. You’d get a LLB first.
