NOTE: I WAS WAY TOO NEGATIVE IN MY LAST POST!!!
The classes are definitely phenomenal and the teachers there truly care about how well you do! They will always prioritize meeting with you if you have any questions. With a great group of friends, which is what you’ll definitely have, Milton slowly becomes a wonderful place to grow and learn. I was probably being a bit too negative in my last post!
omg half of my comment just deleted itself! ughhh I had written so much
You’ll make a wonderful group of friends once you get to Milton! There’s always someone to talk to whether they’re in your grade or a teacher or counselor! If you’re wondering, people do have the opportunity to take classes at Harvard and MIT once in their junior year! Weekends are definitely not boring! The school has vans that head to the nearest mall and because of how close to Boston our school is, people take trips in the city (it’s just a trolley and a few train stops away)! Another plus would be the year abroad program and the semester ones! The year abroad programs are usually for language courses and there are three semester programs! There’s one up in Maine, one up in Vermont, and the last is down near Manhattan (that’s the one I’m interested in)! There’s definitely so much to do and pursue at Milton so please don’t take into account my negative comment
probably should of tagged you earlier
Of course Lawrenceville, you can search up Lawrenceville’s ranking in niche, it ranks the fourth in the nation, milton is like 42. besides that Lawrenceville has so much greater education than milton
Well…
@ishy1522 Thank you for your helpful list of pros and cons! It will certainly help me in my decision! I was wondering what the more strong courses of Milton are?
@Andoverguy How so?
@missinghome21 I’ve heard that Milton is certainly known for its humanities courses! I would guess that humanities courses would be very strong. Something that I’m definitely disappointed in is the math department. The way that math is taught at Milton is seriously just ugh! (I love math so this is my biggest problem so far…) Almost every math class is “taught” by the teacher giving their students a packet where we have to figure everything out. We rarely get lectures in our classes and for a school like this, I would have thought that the math courses would be better. ughhhh.
@ishy1522 What about the English courses? And why do people take courses at Harvard and MIT? Are they gifted kids or can you just be average and apply for a course?
And on another site, Milton is 29, and Lawrenceville is 43. How a school ranks on any particular list should not be a top criteria for choosing a school, IMO. YMMV.

This is how I feel too. And it’s the reason I asked which school @missinghome21 felt drawn to. Sometimes there’s just that elusive pull you have, that feeling in your gut that something is the right choice for you, in spite of everything else. Every time I read this thread, something tells me OP likes Milton a wee bit more…but of course, I could be very wrong, lol! :">
@SkysTheLimit2007 Definitely looking at rankins shouldn’t determine what school you’ll choose so I agree with you on that one. I really don’t have a school I’m drawn to because I can imagine myself at both, having fun too.
Help!
Lol, yes you do have a dilemma for sure! What about location— what are your thoughts there? Would one suit you better? I know both are in the north east — is it as easy to get home/around at each? I don’t even know if that’s a concern but it’s all I have right now! What are your interests?
@SkysTheLimit2007 Location is not a problem for me since I’m an abroad student anyways, so it’s a plane for both. I’m an avid creative writer so definitely the English courses and I’m into psychology. Also anywhere where I can spread my geekiness is a dream come true for me
If you’re from abroad, I know some of my friends who got into Lawrenceville found the biggest problem was the lack of a major airport?
So on the flip side — Milton is about a twenty minute ride away from Boston’s Logan airport…
@altablue:
Lawrenceville to Newark: 45 miles
Lawrenceville to Philadelphia: 47 miles
Two of the busiest airports in the country within an hour drive
@sgopal2 None of the flights from my city/country go to either, though I guess it may be different for others. In my friend’s case, however, the closest airport was NYC.
@altablue That is an interesting thing to bring up. I haven’t thought about transport! But there will probably be buses to take you there and it hopefully won’t be too much trouble?
