Anybody going to see Le Villi? I will be there Saturday night. My D is in the ensemble. SRW’s S is one of the leads (double cast), but he performs Friday and Sunday, so I will not get to see him. :(

musicmom, Looks like no CCer's are going down this weekend, probably too close to parents weekend. I hope you have a wonderful time and I know you will enjoy watching your D perform!

I hate that I am missing your son's performances as well as MTPop's son. I would have to leave early today to get there in time tonight and I can't take off work because we are a small office and two people are already off today. And driving home after Sunday's show would make me pretty late getting home. BTW, my D said your S has an incredible voice; I'm sorry I will miss it.

Thanks for the compliment, I know about trying to get off work, get there and getting back in time! I think our time to from OCU is similar, if I recall correctly. The thing about OCU is which ever night, which ever cast you see, it will be great! Let me know how the show went, when you get back.

Le Villi was terrific. I hate to admit it was my first time to see an opera (unless Pirates of Penzance 3 times by 3 different companies counts!) so I didn't know what to expect. I didn't understand a word, but I read the synopis and they added a narrator (in English) so I certainly knew what was going on. D was magnificent as were all of the students. I was sorry to have missed the Friday/Sunday cast; I hear they were amazing as well.

musicmom, glad you enjoyed the opera. I know what you mean about the first time, we went our first opera last year at OCU, it's different than MT, we are still learning about it and how to appreciate it. I understand that the kids who were the "villis" were really good and had a great time!

I just remembered it was not my first opera. We saw The Magic Flute at OCU when my D went to audition there. I didn't understand it either! lol Yes, the villis had a great time, but now it's off to prepare for the junior recital in a few weeks and the next round of auditions. Always busy!

I can't believe it's been so long since I've visited CC! Just wanted to say that I thought Le Villi was a very good show. We saw the Friday/Sunday cast. Musicmom1215 - your daughter is adorable and was a great "villi". srw - your son was really, really good. He has a beautiful voice. The entire cast did a great job. Can't wait to get back for another show. Musicmom - how was your d's recital? Can't wait for S' recital to come along.

The recital was great. D and her roommate combined their recitals, and both families were there as well as several people from the church they attend in OKC, plus a lot of friends. As you may know, the jr recital is classical music, and the format was pretty formal. It was very nice.

I did not get to see your son and srw's son in Le Villi, but I heard they were both great. I was there for the Saturday cast, which was also very good.

thanks for the kind words! Looking forward to seeing the DVD, hopefully, it will be here for thanksgiving.
