@Jackson61 Cheers!!! [-O<

@JCCsMom He applied for the leadership award?

My D also got one. Am hoping this is a good sign . . .

@gman33 - Yes he was invited and applied for the leadership award.

I showed a friend and he thinks it could be a likely letter… Now, I really don’t want to get my hopes up, only to have them crushed by the monster truck of rejection… ^:)^

@jackson61 and @gman333 I’m pretty sure they don’t send it to internationals… Because 3 from my school have applied for it, and none have got it… Also, we all have good test scores, leadership, etc

@aks2014 - but I know a person from my school (in-state) who didn’t get it…

My D was invited to apply for leadership award, applied and didn’t get the overnight email. Then again, she didn’t get the UCSD overnight email either and was still accepted into that school. She’s “average” in stats for Berkeley so really, could go either way.

@turtletime Congratulations to her! I was waitlisted at SD but accepted into Davis/Santa Cruz, so… yeah. I’m really not sure what this email means - if it means anything at all. What were you guys’ Leadership Award essays on? Mine were:

“200 words or fewer. Please succinctly describe your leadership
philosophy and how you apply it to the activities you listed above”: I basically wrote about pestering people until they agreed with me (tried to make it humorous)

“200 words or fewer. Please describe an endeavor during high school in which you accomplished a leadership goal and created a positive impact among your peers.”: Wrote about a major event which I organized at school.

“300 words or fewer. Please explain a situation in which you identified a problem or issue, and detail how you were directly responsible for bringing change to that situation.”: Wrote about a lack of interest in certain subjects in my school, and how I worked to get people interested in them…

I’d like to know who got it last year and got accepted. Since they didn’t sent it to everyone what does this mean, exactly…?

I don’t want to get my hopes up and see them crushed :(

@alwayswonderines I know what you mean… I went through some old threads and saw that one person got rejected - most got accepted, though…

@jackson61 Gahh when decisions come out I’m definitely coming back to update. None of the threads are helpful enough hahah

@alwayswonderines We should totally start a new thread for just this: “UCB Decisions For People Who Got That Dang Cryptic Leadership Award Email” :-S

@jackson61 LOL anyone else willing to join us?

@gman333 Wanna join us? <:-P

Ya I will @jackson61
My friend was sent this but he did not apply for the leadership award.

My son and 2 of his friends from school received this (possibly others, but these are the only 2 that have mentioned it)

@LNmomof2 Did they all apply for the leadership award?

Yes, they all received the initial email and then they applied. All 3 have impressive stats.

What does @ucbalumnus think of these emails? He is the Berkeley expert
