I keep getting them in the mail and figured they were just money scams and doesn't really help you in any way but considering colleges want leadership quality, does anyone know if it's worth it going to these?

I went to the National Youth Leadership Conference in D.C. and it was pretty good (though not really my thing-very focused on government/politics). It's a good experience. I'm not sure how much worth is put on it, but I ended up going anyway.

It's a nice exercise in independence-a first taste.

I have gotten these things in the mail for years and I finally decided to go to the People to People Future Leaders Summit on Law, because I want to go into law and it sounded like a good experience. I'm going at the end of June. I don't think it will help in the admission process but I want to do it, so I will.

If it sounds like fun to you, go for it. Don't worry about admissions.

They're not money scams, but they don't help you in college apps...

agreed with every other post; this topic has been all-too-exhausted on CC :)

Not very helpful.. Somewhat of a good experience.. but it's pretty much the same as every other summer camp / development place.

I am going to NSLC this summer, even though it's totally a waste of everything. but i dont jus want to sit in the library all summer. my parents are pretty upset that i decided to go because my dad believes that it IS a money scam, and it probably is. but idk, just something to do in the summer. if u have nothing planned except for prepping for the sats and stuff, i would go. just because i want to get away for 10 days. plus if it's an area that you are interested in, why not?

it really doesn't help with colleges...although if you do nothing all summer, that's not gonna help you either. it won't hurt at least.
