Well, I applied to East as my first choice, and all I got was an email from West saying that I was accepted, and there have been people who have been told that they’ve gotten into East.

Cant we just email them asking
and get this whole torture of waiting over with

haha, go for it!! I’m not, I realized I can live with San Francisco.

Hey guys, I got into West as well.
Looking forward to it!!! :)

I also applied to both East and West, but only heard from West.

Does anyone know how the two programs are different in what we learn and experience?

The two programs are absolutely identical.

I just got off the phone with an RTA and I quote "there is no difference between the programs’. The reason why people are being drawn West or East is simply down to the way they indicated their choices. Many people, perhaps unknowingly as LBW only started this year, only applied to LBW East. This meant that as far as possible, those that applied to both would be drawn West, whether as a first or second choice. This meant that the maximum amount of people got their first choices.

In fact, the admissions process is not handled by which one you have applied for. The applicant list of 110 is made and once this has happened, they are drawn to the camps. The experiences run totally parallel with every single aspect of the course being the same.

Further, I did ask whether there was any point in switching. I was told that there was absolutely no point. She said it could perhaps be done, but I didn’t bother. The fact that they would freely let someone switch over further proves that both groups are, I quote, “equally strong”.

I’m ecstatic to be in and seriously we’re going to a Wharton Summer Program, East or West.

so basically if you applied to both programs
you were put in LBW West

but if you only applied to LBW East
you were put in LBW East

thats kinda weird tho

But you have got people who applied to East only and have been offered West. This was done by chance.

I applied to both, got West, and I didn’t and still don’t care.

And trust me, I know exactly how you feel. I’ve suffered some pretty bad failures this past year, alot more important the Wharton LBW.

What were everyones stats, whether you got accepted or not(sorry)?

Just trying to make a decision between LBW and the one week foundation for teaching economics program. I know it’s hard to compare a four week program with a one-week one, but I was wondering how they compare in terms of reputation. Any input would be appreciated!

I don’t know what the foundation is, but I do know from what I’ve heard that LBW is an amazing experience that no one has regretted being a part of. You should come!!!

egehring: thanks for the feedback! fyi - the foundation for teaching economics (fte) is a one week leadership type program that only charges a nominal site fee (hence quite selective).

First off, congratulations to everyone who was accepted!! I’ll take any more questions if you would like, feel free to send me a private message as well.

In response to jhjh181, no problem at all! Socially, the program is great as well. Classes are over around 3:00-4:00pm, and after that are evening activities. We had an activity nearly every night, from going to Pat’s and Geno’s, South Street, King of Prussia Mall, a Phillies game, a dance, and even a totally free day in NYC, and even a fuil day at the Jersey Shore! There are also all sorts of student organized dances and activities, which are just happen if your peers want to make it happen with their free time! There is ample free time over the trip, and that is how you are able to bond with your fellow LBDubs extremely closely! You are able to leave the Quad on your own, but our RTA had a buddy system implemented for us, so you always had to leave with a group, and this was totally enforced during the whole program. However, this was never a problem, because everyone liked to go out often. There was overall lots of time to enjoy yourself, a good balance of business and fun!

Hope this helps! Feel free to shoot me a question for those of you who were accepted!

I actually attended LBW in 2005, and i’m Wharton class of 2010 (yay MKTG majors!)
anyway, feel free to ask me any/all questions abt the program and/or Wharton. I’m on Wharton Council so hopefully can help, otherwise I should know someone who can…
plus I think it’s awesome they’re doing a Wharton West one this yr (as I’m moving to SF after graduation)!

cheers,
Shannon
