Leadership Positions as a Transfer

I'm transferring as a junior to Chapman in the fall, and I definitely want to get involved in campus orgs and student leadership. I'm planning on getting involved with Chapman University Democrats, Greek life (not sure which sorority yet, obviously), campus radio, student government, and intramural sports.

My question is, would I realistically be able to achieve leadership positions in these organizations? I ask because most, if not all, of the other students gunning for those positions will have been at Chapman since freshman year, they will be more known and will generally have a better shot at leadership positions than a junior transfer. I'd like to get involved with Senate right off the bat, and hopefully get a position on Executive Council (top SGA positions) by senior year.

As for the other clubs/orgs I'd like to hold some kind of leadership role with those by senior year. Any advice on how I can quickly make myself known and improve my chances at student leadership? Obviously I'm going to be social and immerse myself into campus life, but any tips beyond that?

Shouldn’t even be an issue. I just transferred into the University of Illinois this past Spring and it seems as if leadership positions fell into my lap. I maintain several high profile jobs on campus and there was never any discrimination because I was a transfer student. In fact, most organizations look to have a transfer member on board to show diversity and demonstrate to other potential transfers that succeeding after coming in is possible. As far as the other stuff it all depends on you. Just do you.

Interested in this as well.
