Hello, fellow CCers!

I'm mostly interested in schools in the Boston area, but I also toured Amherst College and Yale and really liked them both. If I attended one of them, I would still probably visit Boston every weekend (for complicated reasons...not going to go into it here...)

What I'm wondering is, how easy/cheap/practical is it to visit Boston from these schools? Has anyone does this (or any type of regular travel to/from their college), and if so, what was it like?

Please don't try to convince me not to visit Boston if I go to one of these schools, or to stay exclusively in Boston for college. I'm looking for advice, not to be judged.

Thanks to anyone who responds :D

I’d imagine transportation to/from wouldn’t be too bad, but it all really depends on how much you tend to spend. It can be affordable or excessively expensive depending on what you plan to do in Boston every weekend. I’m sure you have your reasons, but it really depends on your spending habits.

I go to school in Boston and travel to New York and New Jersey every so often. Travel is pretty easy and quite cheap. If you are in a smaller town, so long as it has a train station, it’s easy to take a train to a major city. If trains go to New York instead of Boston, there are tons of $15 (and sometimes cheaper) buses that take about 5 hours. Megabus, Bolt, Peter Pan, etc.

Going every weekend would probably get a little tiring if you were coming from Yale, less so if you’re traveling from Amherst. I would suggest overnight buses/trains for frequent travel.
