<p>How exactly do legacies work?
Does it have to be a parent that went to the college, or any relatives? Like my cousin and 2nd cousin both went to UC Berkeley, my uncle works with the webpage for Haas, does this count? lol</p>

<p>And how do they know? How would you tell them?</p>

<p>UCs can not count legacy. For most schools it’s parents (who were undergrads, only sometimes grad students) and sometimes grandparents. You’re not a legacy, but get a tip factor if a sibling is currently at the school.</p>
