Legacy at Cornell

Hello everyone! I had a question regarding what counts as legacy at Cornell. If my father got his PhD and Masters at Cornell, does that count? Also, if I am not close w/ my father anymore (I kinda talked abt it in my Common App lol bc my parents are divorced), will it affect me?

Thanks:-)

I believe it does “count” as legacy. Cornell defines legacy as having a parent or grandparent who holds a degree from the university.

That said, you will only see a legacy bump in the ED round.

Not sure I’d want to highlight that you aren’t close to your legacy parent if you are hoping for said bump.
