Legacy but not ED

hey everybody! ok, as you can tell from my cc name, upenn is my first choice and i applied there ED. but i REALLY love brown, too–i mean, how can you NOT love brown?! anyway, brown is a close second to penn for me. my dad went there, so i would have that legacy thing going…but do they really consider legacy for regular decision candidates? i know i have solid stats and ec’s, but if i dont get into penn, i would really love to go to brown. im just wondering if the legacy would help my chances for regular decision, or if im just looking for comfort factors haha.

The way I’ve heard it described by admissions people is that legacy helps when they’re getting down to the wire. If they’re comparing you to someone who seems to have equal stats etc, they’ll choose the legacy over the non-legacy. But that’s about it. You’ve got just a tiny extra push in. But it could make a difference!

I think he is asking whether or not Legacy impacts candidates during the regular round. And the answer is yes; unlike Penn, Brown has not explicitly communicated that legacy-status will only have bearings on admissions with an ED.

omg that’s so funny! I’m a penn legacy but I applied to Brown ED :stuck_out_tongue:
I don’t think it helps nearly as much as ED if at all when you apply RD.
