My mom got a letter from the office of admissions thanking me for applying and talking about some statistics about legacy applicants. Did anyone else get one of these? My family has deeper connections to the university than the average but I wasnt sure if it was just a forum letter of it actually means something.
It is likely a form letter they send to all idenitified legacy applicants. Admissions have become so competitive that being a legacy doesn’t count as very much any more.
@dowzerw that was my original thought, but none of my friends who are also legacy applicants got one. Thats why I took too CC to see if anyone else may have
We received that last year, said something like - “we see UNC is a tradition in your family - but we make no promises - good luck”. D15 did get in btw.
We received one, and I did think that it meant something.
I received one. Buried in the middle was a paragraph which was essentially a warning that my child’s status as a legacy is no protection against rejection, given the many qualified applicants who have applied so far.
i know this is about legacy letters, but does anyone know if UNC sends out likely letters to other EA applicants (that don’t have alumni/legacy)
UNC did not send out likely letters last year. They seem to have stopped a few years ago.
Anyone know notification dates? Last year it was January 30th for EA, but I’ve heard rumors that this year will be staggered starting December 15th?
^ The website still states “end of January” for EA applications.
We did get the legacy letter last year, EA
