Does anyone know if Georgetown looks highly upon legacies or not? My dad went to SFS and the Law School, however they deferred me early. Does anyone think being a legacy helps at all?

Thanks and Good Luck!!

MrsJackBauer-Legacy applicants get put in a separate pile during regular decision, however, legacy is not regarded during early action. That's really ironic because my dad went to SFS and the Law School too. My mom, aunts and uncles, and grandad went to Gtown also. Anyway, I got deferred early also. Apparently they don't really encourage legacies to apply early because if they get deferred they got really discouraged (or something along those lines). But, yes, legacy is definitely considered. Good luck! I hope we both get in!

Your username is great. :p

Mm Thank-you! If we all get into Georgetown we can start a 24 night!

What do you mean, start?

This might be a really stupid question, but if my brother graduated from gtown, does that count as a legacy? ...or just a sibling? Do you know if sibling applicants get put into a separate pile as well? Thanks :)

Two Jack Bauer screen names... LOVELY.

the face edgar had the last 3 seconds of his life will be my face if i don't get into georgeotwn.

anyone know the answer to my question? :)

I would like to congratulate everyone that has gotten into G-town.

I didn't apply but I thought someone here might be able to answer this. How much does georgetown put on legacy and specifically people who donate?? One of my best friends was upset to find out that he didn't get into georgetown but quickly got over it. He figured he didn't have the stats. As you can see some of the kids that got in here are at the top of the nation but I know of three people that got in that have connections(it is sunday night, people found out yesterday. I am sure I will know of many more at my rich school tomorrow). One has been saying since sophomore year that he/she has a way in. I wouldn't trust this person with anything yet this person got in. this person has gotten some bad grades but always says it doesn't matter I am going to get into georgetown. THis person is a friend of mine and I have called this person stupid and told him/her that there was no possible way. Like i said-got in. Someone else got in and this person has a parent that went to g-town and donates a good amoung of money every year, so i hear. This person is not a friend of mine but isn't regarded as smart, well not g-town smart. Another got in and I do not know this person but they also have connections. Does g-town really put a lot of weight on legacy and donations?? My friend is now devistated that others that are not near his level got in and he didn't.

if you were related to Jack Bauer i bet you could get automatically

Jack bauer went to UCLA. ITs in his profile. If you were chuck norris you could get in anywhere automatically.

speaking of 24, you know what blows, tony almeida just dying and not even being respected ... his character seems forgotten and he didnt have a silent clock, when in reality almeida was everyones first, well maybe second favorite character

I'm a legacy and got rejected today :( I got deferred from Princeton so now I'm thinking I'll be flat-out denied there since I couldn't even get waitlisted at Georgetown.

there's a girl at my school who was grossly underqualified but got into Georgetown b/c of her dad's connections to the law school. I guess the effectiveness of legacy rests on who you know.

sounds like someone from my school. So i hear.

Well, i gave my all into my schoolwork to just earn a top 5% spot 35/602 despite unfortunate family circumstances and i got rejected...of course i expected it being that i have a gross habit of not having confidence but it still hurts..

and just to say i think that is completely unfair that someone who is not qualified is admitted just because their parents happen to have gone there...god honestly G'town if u want to have a good standing behind u...admit ppl solely on achievements inside and outside of school and a good amount of work ethic..

I'm sorry to anyone if i am speaking out against u...please take note that i just found out that i've been rejected (and G'town was my #2 behind Hopkins...which i now know is gonna reject me as well..) so the hurt is taking over my senses as of now

and congrats to all who were accepted and good luck to those who were waitlisted and good luck and well wishes to those who were rejected as well

unfair to us, i also got rejected

but im not going to lie, if my dad went to gtown i would have absoilutely no regrets getting in because of his influence...and people who claim they want to earn there way through would have a completely different mentality if they are one of the people who benefit from legacy, URM, or any other hook

sorry this is so off topic, i just have to reply stonecold cause im a crazy 24 fan

i didn't think tony was dead, just stabbed..and when i found out iwas like whaaaaaaat. but what hit me harder was edgar dying; i didn't appreciate him enough till he was gone.

good luck to everyone's endeavors, i truly hope it works out for you all, albeit georgetown or not.

and you know what also makes me mad? how people can get in through connections. several of my friends have connections, and im happy for them, but it's just not fair...

Guys--
Georgetown waitlisted my daughter today, and her Dad is an alum (the Law school) so those of you with no connections-- don't feel bad cuz my husband was almost in tears today after all my daughter's hard work and high test scores!
I don't feel too bad about Georgetown because I have an uneasy feeling about Washington, and I wasn't too keen on my d living there. She did not apply to Columbia University or NYU and I am happy about this also--- I just feel that NYC and Washington DC are not off the radar yet for terrorists --- especially with Moussaoui admitting today that he had been ordered to fly a plane into the White House ..... and with the Iranian Prime minister making threatening noises against Washington....
I know I sound like sour grapes, but i am relieved that my d won't be living in Washington..... Whew..
