Saw this for the 2nd time on TV after NBA playoffs. What did you law graduates think of the movie? The classroom scenes seemed over the top but how would you guys relate it to your law school days?

I liked the part where the female professor inspires a dejected Elle Woods in the salon.

The only thing I saw that had any connection to real life in law school is there are law school professors out there who do delight in humiliating the unprepared student. As I was told once after unintelligibly mumbling an answer, "I would ask you to repeat your answer, but what I could hear was so woefully inadequate, it doesn't bear repeating."

^ ! ha, I would find that amusing, if "class participation" isn't a big factor in the grade. I had an undergrad prof who did that but it was essentially good natured. Definitely kept more people tuned in.

there was a girl in my section who was totally Elle...a former sorority girl who seemed quite flighty but was actually very hardworking and got the top score in Civil Procedure!

we also watched a clip (the part about malum prohibitum and malum in se offenses) in my crim class to introduce that lesson.

but overall my profs were a lot less intimidating than the ones in the movie...and i certainly didn't have any perm-related courtroom victories!

I thought you meant the musical! "Legally Blonde" just opened on Broadway. The composers are a husband and wife team who went to Harvard undergrad. It hasn't gotten very good reviews, but...

In a lot of ways, though, it's Reese Witherspoon who made the movie. She's a fine actress. I LOVED her in "Election," which has to be one of the funniest movies ever made.

BTW, Wyeth Hall looked NOTHING like it did in the movie. There was no way all of Elle's stuff would have fit into a Wyeth room!
