I am choosing between Lehigh and Gettysburg. I got a scholarship at Gettysburg but not at Lehigh so I’m wondering if it’s worth the extra cost. Also, if anyone has any opinions please let me know. Thank you!!!
What is your major?
If you plan to major in humanities or life science take the money.
Also, how large is the scholarship, and is it every year or only freshman year?
@Much2learn @OnTheBubble I want to major in International Relations or Art History. I got a 15k scholarship to Gettysburg and it is for every year.
It depends on if your family could comfortably afford Lehigh (ex. no loans, no hardship) and which environment you prefer (mid sized university or LAC).
Affording Lehigh is possible, but of course its beneficial for college to be cheaper. I prefer a mid sized university, but I also like Gettysburg a lot. @happy1
Lehigh wouldn’t be worth it for someone looking at political science or international relations.
$60k isn’t chicken change either.
Gettsyburg has the edge in humanities and social sciences, a nicer campus, much better food and a nicer town.
I heard that Lehigh is a better school overall. Is that true?
Lehigh is considered more prestigious coming from engineering, science and business. Gettysburg gets a little lost in the shuffle because there are so many good schools in the general area.
Whether that is important to you is for you to decide.
Both are a good choice, as you know.
